Biography of a Classical English Artist
Gordon studied at the Wimbledon School of Art, and then
spent seventeen years in advertising and 28 years teaching in a college of art
and design in London. Since 1952 he has exhibited seventeen times at the Royal
Academy Summer Exhibition. Listed in the Who's Who in Art, he has been
included in group exhibitions in various London and provincial galleries
including Madden, New English, The National, and Church Street ArtGallery,
Saffon Walden.
His work can be found in private collections both in UK
and abroad. Currently, two paintings can be seen at the Chelmsford and Essex
Museum.
His main interest is painting landscapes and sea scapes,
particularly around Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk, and France. He is drawn to
a subject by atmosphere and design in the landscape, and his fascination with
skies. The paintings are usually oil on canvas, with the frames carefully and
individually selected.
